ABOUT ACACIA

Executive Director's Message,

On September 17, 1979 the hard work and dreams of the Social Concerns Committee of Garden Grove Methodist Church paid off with 8 participants attending their first day at the Garden Grove Adult Day Care Center.  This city run program was the second of its kind in Orange County!

We have made some changes since that day - today we are Acacia Adult Day Services - a free-standing non-profit, being licensed to provide Adult Day Health Care/Community Based Adult Services and Dementia Care.  Serving over serving over 100 people a day with a budget of $2 million, we are getting ever closer to our mission and who we've promised to serve.

"it was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped."

-Hubert H. Humphrey

Sincerely,

Mallory Vega

Executive Director

Our History

Acacia Adult Day Services has its roots in the community of Garden Grove, California since the 1970s. In 1976, a minister from the local United Methodist Church, Dr. Miles Aker, took a short trip to Hawaii, where he was introduced to the concept of Adult Day Services. Inspired by what he saw, Dr. Aker shared the idea of Adult Day Services with a small group at his church that was looking for alternative ways to address the growing needs of seniors in the Garden Grove community.

Our Mission

Acacia Adult Day Services is dedicated to improving the quality of life for frail older adults, persons with dementia or other disabilities and their families by providing expert, supportive care in an inviting and interactive setting.
